Ingredients

  • For the Lasagna:
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 pound ground beef or sausage
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish
  • For the Caprese Salad:
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar for drizzling
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Garlic Bread:
  • 1 loaf of Italian bread
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Lasagna: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. In a skillet, brown the ground beef or sausage, then drain excess fat. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
  2. Layer the Lasagna: Spread a layer of marinara sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Place a layer of noodles, followed by ricotta mixture, ground meat, mozzarella, and more sauce. Repeat layers, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  3. Bake: Cover the lasagna with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  4. Prepare the Caprese Salad: Layer the tomato and mozzarella slices on a platter. Tuck fresh basil leaves in between, then drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  5. Make the Garlic Bread: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Mix softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley together. Spread the mixture on the sliced Italian bread. Wrap in foil and bake for 10-12 minutes until toasted.
